(New York, NY. , November 1, 2012) — Reed Smith LLP, a leading international law firm, today announced nine of its practices received national Tier 1 recognition in the 2013 “Best Law Firms” rankings from U.S. News Media Group and Best Lawyers.

A further 17 practices received national Tier 2 ranking, while 11 others achieved national Tier 3 ranking.

Additionally, 57 different practice groups across the firm's U.S. offices, in Chicago, Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Richmond, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., collectively earned Tier 1 rankings for their metropolitan practices.

At the metro level, an additional 22 Reed Smith practices were ranked in Tier 2; and seven in Tier 3.

According to U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers, achieving high rankings is a special distinction that signals a unique combination of legal excellence and breadth of expertise. “The ‘Best Law Firms’ rankings are now in their third year, and the reaction to the rankings from the legal profession and from legal clients continues to be very gratifying,” says Steven Naifeh, president of Best Lawyers. “Because we combine hard data with peer reviews and client assessments, more and more clients inform us that ours are the most thorough, accurate, and helpful rankings of law firms ever developed.”

Reed Smith’s and other firms’ national first-tier rankings will be featured in U.S. News & World Report’s Money issue on November 20, 2012. The national and metropolitan first-tier rankings are featured in the “Best Law Firms” stand-alone publication, which is distributed to more than 30,000 general counsel and in digital format to more than 60,000 private practice lawyers worldwide.
