Join Reed Smith Houston partner, Cisco Rivero (Latin America Business Team chair) at the Oil and Gas Investment Arbitrations Conference. Cisco will be speaking at the first panel: Structuring Oil & Gas Investments in Mexico. This panel will discuss the regulatory implications that foreign investors in Mexico's oil and gas industry must consider. The panel will address the availability of investor-state arbitration as a risk mitigation tool, as well as address the anticipated flexible structure of petroleum contracts, including their dispute resolution provisions.

The Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Center of the University of Houston Law Center, Georgetown's International Law Institute and the Washburn Oil and Gas Law Center are hosting the Oil and Gas Investment Arbitrations Conference. This conference addresses the cutting edge issues faced by the industry in the current market and political conditions. It does not provide an overview of disputes between oil and gas companies and foreign state instrumentalities; rather, it focuses on the next wave of significant disputes faced by the industry. Discussion of these developments will provide counsel with insight into the current positions of leading players in the field, as well as the future action they will have to take to anticipate significant new risk factors.
