International law firm Reed Smith has acted as lead counsel for Northill Capital LLP (Northill) on its acquisition of a majority interest in Securis Investment Partners LLP, the London based Insurance Linked Securities investment manager with over $1 billion under management.
Northill aims to provide equity and seed capital to a small number of high quality start-ups or early stage managers and to provide equity capital to replace existing shareholders in larger more established asset managers. Securis is a leading investment manager in insurance risk-related assets.
Reed Smith provided analytical support in relation to the underlying, complex, insurance linked assets managed by Securis as well as advice on corporate, tax, employment/benefits, regulatory and real estate aspects of the transaction.
The team was led by corporate partners Ian Fagelson and Richard Shine and included Alun Jones (corporate), Jacqui Hatfield and Melissa Peters (regulatory), Jeremy Glover (benefits), Laurence Rees and Carl De Cicco (employment), Alan Meehan (derivatives), Dale Gabbert (investment funds) and Caspar Fox (tax).
