(June 12, 2011, Chicago, IL) - Reed Smith LLP today announced the addition of former Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott R. Drury as counsel in its firmwide Commercial Litigation Group. Mr. Drury will be resident in the firm's Chicago office, effective immediately.

Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois in 2003, Mr. Drury was a litigation associate at Sachnoff & Weaver, Ltd., which combined with Reed Smith in 2007. While at the U.S. Attorney's Office, Mr. Drury served in various sections of the Office, most recently the Financial Crimes and Special Prosecutions Section.

"We are delighted to have Scott return to this office, where he oversaw and managed a wide range of complex litigation matters before joining the U.S. Attorney's Office," said Michael LoVallo, Managing Partner of Reed Smith's Chicago office. "In his almost eight years of public service he was lead prosecutor on a range of complex and high-profile fraud, corruption, racketeering, tax and civil rights prosecutions, developing a knowledge base and skill set that will benefit our clients, the litigation group and the Chicago office."

Mr. Drury is an accomplished trial attorney, having tried numerous complex matters in federal court during his years at the U.S. Attorney's Office. The trials often were the culmination of multi-year investigations overseen and directed by Mr. Drury and involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation, and the United States Postal Inspection Service.

"It was a privilege to have served the public during my time at the U.S. Attorney's Office," said Mr. Drury. "I take great satisfaction in knowing that my hard work made our communities safer and our justice system stronger. As I close that chapter of my career, I am excited to be starting a new one - returning to practice with my former colleagues at a firm that now has an international platform."

Mr. Drury graduated with honors from Northwestern University School of Law in 1998, where he now teaches trial advocacy as an adjunct professor.
