WASHINGTON, D.C. (JULY 19, 2016) – Reed Smith LLP today announced the addition of Robert Shulman as a partner in the firm’s Insurance Recovery Group in Washington, D.C. Shulman was most recently a partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips. The addition of Shulman in Washington, D.C., follows closely on the arrivals of Holly Roth, a member of the firm’s Government Contracts Group, and Gerry Stegmaier, a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property, Information and Innovation (iCubed) Group, who both joined the firm in June.

Shulman focuses his practice on representing policyholders in insurance recovery disputes, with his experience spanning state and federal courts throughout the United States and adjudicative bodies in the United Kingdom. He has represented clients in cases designated for multidistrict coordination, and has considerable experience in alternative dispute resolution in a wide range of matters. In addition to his insurance recovery practice, Shulman is experienced in class action litigation, including opposing certification, as well as the development and implementation of both certification and the merits.
Shulman earned his J.D., cum laude, from Tulane University and his B.A. from Cornell University. After law school, he served as law clerk to the Honorable George Arceneaux Jr., U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Following that, he served as an attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission's Office of General Counsel. Shulman has been recognized as a leading insurance recovery lawyer by Chambers USA, The Best Lawyers in America, Who's Who Legal, and Legal 500.
