(October 15, 2014) — Reed Smith is pleased to announce that it is the recipient of the 2014 Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley (APABA-SV) Law Firm Diversity Award. APABA-SV presents this award annually to law firms in the region that have demonstrated the strongest commitment to diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace and in its outside endeavors.

The honor was presented at the 29th Annual Scholarship and Commitment to Diversity Awards Banquet, which was held last Friday in Redwood City in honor of the recipients of both the Law Firm and Corporate Diversity Awards. Also honored this year for their Diversity efforts were Paragon Legal and Varian Medical Systems.

Accepting the Law Firm Diversity Award on behalf of Reed Smith was Catharina Y. Min, Vice Chair of the firm’s global Business & Finance Department.

This year's keynote speaker was Neal Katyal, who previously served as Acting Solicitor General of the United States and National Security Adviser in the U.S. Justice Department.

The program also honored scholarship recipients, who served the Asian Pacific American community during their summers in law school and have demonstrated leadership and commitment to the Asian Pacific American community.

Reed Smith is pleased to help sponsor the APABA-SV Diversity Banquet. Proceeds from the event help fund scholarships, internships and the general operations of APABA-SV.

Formed over twenty years ago, APABA-SV is a forum for Asian Pacific American (APA) attorneys in the Silicon Valley to network, develop professional skills, participate in community service, take positions on issues affecting the APA community, and empower APAs in the Bay Area.
