February 11 – Reed Smith LLP today announced that partners in California, Pennsylvania and Illinois have earned recognition as BTI Client Service All-Stars 2015.

Scott D. Baker in San Francisco and Palo Alto, Paul D. Fogel in San Francisco, Paul J. Jaskot in Philadelphia, and Peter M. Ellis in Chicago and Philadelphia, emerged from BTI’s most recent annual survey of leading general counsel and legal decision makers in North America and Europe as All-Stars.

Ellis is a member of Reed Smith’s Commercial Litigation Group and the firm’s Executive Committee. His practice is focused on general commercial and business counseling, and advising clients on business disputes and transactions. A 1998 graduate of The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, he represents national and multi-national clients in franchise, licensing and distribution, retail, unfair competition, trademark, trade secrets and other intellectual property claims, contract disputes, employment counseling and defense, and defending consumer-related claims. He often serves as coordinating counsel in domestic and international representations, including a wide variety of employment, corporate governance, health care and financial services matters, as well as real estate transactions. Ellis was nominated as a 2015 BTI All-Star by a global industrial manufacturer.

Jaskot is a member of Reed Smith’s Corporate & Securities Group and the firm’s Executive Committee. From 2010-2014, he was chair of the firm’s Corporate & Securities Group. A 1995 graduate of Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, his practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities, corporate governance, general corporate and financing matters. He regularly works closely with clients' senior management in the banking and financial services, health care, life sciences, information technology, and energy industries, among others. Jaskot was nominated as a 2015 BTI All-Star by a large pharmaceutical company.

Fogel is chair of Reed Smith’s Appellate Group. His practice focuses on appeals, writs, post-trial motions, and law and motion matters in a broad range of civil law areas, including unfair competition, health care, trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, defamation, products liability, taxation, contracts, public entity law, premises liability, employment, professional negligence, banking and finance, higher education, and constitutional law. The 1976 graduate of UCLA School of Law has handled more than 400 appellate matters resulting in more than 60 published opinions, including matters in the California Supreme Court; the District of Columbia, Fifth, and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals; every Appellate District of the California Court of Appeal; and several other state appellate courts. He was nominated as a 2015 BTI All-Star by a large transportation company.

Baker is a member of Reed Smith’s Intellectual Property practice and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. His practice focuses on areas of intellectual property and unfair competitive practices law, including patents, trade secrets, copyrights, and trademarks. The 1978 graduate of the University of California Hastings College of the Law has a practice emphasis in computer and other technology-related industries, and is experienced in a wide range of business litigation matters, including real estate, contracts, licensing and partnerships. He was nominated as an All-Star by a global industrial manufacturer.
