November 1, 2012, Washington, D.C. — A. Scott Bolden, Managing Partner at Reed Smith’s Washington, D.C. office, was named recipient of the prestigious Chamber’s Choice Award in recognition of his “exceptional leadership, extraordinary standards of professional excellence and his continuing commitment to the community.”

Named by The Washington Post as “Washington’s Newest Super Lawyer”, Bolden, 50, is the former Chairman of the DC Democratic Party and past president of the DC Chamber of Commerce. He is widely recognized as the “go to “lawyer for individuals and corporations with issues against and before the federal and local governments. His practice is mainly focused on regulatory and criminal defense litigation.

“The best part of Washington is working with the best and brightest lawyers in the business,” said Bolden. “I think lawyers make DC a better place.” A graduate of Morehouse College and Howard University Law School, Bolden has long been active in politics and business, and has deep ties to the Chamber of Commerce. “You can’t be a business leader without giving back,” he added.

Reed Smith’s global managing partner Gregory Jordan said Bolden is a “super connector” in Washington and one of the firm’s most valuable partners. “Scott has always been concerned with and committed to the District of Columbia and this recognition by the Chamber of Commerce is just one example of his deep roots and the respect he has attained for Reed Smith in the community.”

Bolden has conducted internal investigations for corporations, defended corporate clients and individuals in state and federal courts, and advised clients on regulatory and white collar criminal issues. He is currently representing DC Chartered Health Plan and most recently defended former Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, and is a frequent guest on local and national radio and television programs.

The Washington Business Journal named Bolden in 2009 as a “Top Lawyer” in the white collar crime category. His writings have been published in The Washington Post, The Washington Times, The Washingtonian and The Washington Business Journal.

Bolden joined the Washington office of Reed Smith in 1991 and has served as the office’s managing partner since 2008.

The black-tie gala, attended by more than 1,300 business leaders and guests, was held Saturday, October 27 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, 2660 Woodley Road N.W.
