Global law firm Reed Smith today announced the appointment of Isabelle MacElhone as partner within its Paris corporate practice. Isabelle joins the firm accompanied by associate Bertrand Baheu-Derras. These appointments see the Reed Smith Paris corporate team grow to 14 lawyers, including five partners.

Isabelle MacElhone advises French and foreign organisations across a variety of sectors, with notable experience in energy, retail, financial and professional services. She advises on domestic and cross-border transactions, including mergers & acquisitions (M&A), securities, restructuring, strategic partnerships and corporate law.

Called to the Paris Bar in 1988, Isabelle MacElhone holds a diplôme d'études approfondies (DEA) from Panthéon Assas Paris 2, and was a recipient of the French National Order of Merit in 2003. Isabelle began her career in the corporate team of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, becoming a partner in 1990. In 2007 she joined Hogan & Hartson’s M&A team as Head Partner, assuming the same role at Hogan Lovells after the merger of the two legacy firms (Hogan & Hartson and Lovells) in 2010.

Bertrand Baheu-Derras was called to the Paris Bar in January 2010 and holds a Master’s degree in corporate law from the Université d’Auvergne Clermont-Ferrand as well as a Certificate of Proficiency in Legal English from American University Washington College of Law. Prior to joining Reed Smith he worked within the corporate team of Hogan Lovells, working alongside Isabelle MacElhone since 2010.
