Global law firm Reed Smith has advised St. Louis based UniGroup on its acquisition of UK based Sterling Relocation. The deal closed on 30 June 2014.

UniGroup is one of the world’s largest transportation and relocation services providers and owner of United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit among other companies. The acquisition provides UniGroup with the full range of global relocation services, from relocation consulting, assignment management, immigration, and destination and supply-chain management.

Sakil Suleman, Reed Smith corporate partner, commented:

"Sterling’s global presence, across the UK, US, China, Singapore, France, Germany, Switzerland, India and more, gave us a great opportunity to showcase our international capabilities. It was a complex deal with lots of moving parts. Given the firm’s platform, we managed to field a cross-office team of over 50 lawyers to help successfully get the deal done to the client’s satisfaction in a tight time frame."
