Global law firm Reed Smith has been named Law Firm of the Year for Exceptional Achievement at the Halsbury Legal Awards 2016.
The awards, now in their fourth year and sponsored by Lexis Nexis, recognise exceptional achievements and contributions of individuals, teams and organisations across the legal sector.
The award reflects the work of our Social Impact Finance Group (SIFG), a ground-breaking practice group committed to supporting clients who are engaged in creating social impact around the world.
Since its launch in 2012, the SIFG team – led by finance partner Ranajoy Basu – has grown to more than 100 lawyers across nine jurisdictions.
Several of the group’s innovative financial solutions were highlighted at the awards, including its recent work for Theirworld on ‘A World at School’, the world’s largest petition for the education of children. The team also advised Wattpad and the Global Education Platform (GEP) on the launch of YourStoryIndia, currently the largest and most inclusive digital writing contest in the world.
The award was received at a glittering ceremony on 29 September at the Grosvenor House Marriott Hotel, London.
