NEW YORK (December 15, 2015) – Reed Smith LLP is pleased to announce that two partners have been recognized on The National Law Journal’s 2015 Trailblazers lists: John P. Hooper (Litigation) and Mark S. Melodia (Cybersecurity & Data Privacy.)

John P Hooper

Hooper, Practice Leader of Reed Smith’s multi-disciplinary Complex Litigation Strategy group, was one of only 50 people profiled in the third annual Litigation Trailblazer’s list who is innovating litigation in a significant way. He was particularly recognized for his current focus on “viral litigation,” cases that are an all-out attack on a company and a brand and the company when regulators, Congress, prosecutors and the press become stakeholders. Mark S. Melodia

Melodia. Co-chair of Reed Smith’s Global Intellectual Property, Information and Innovation Practice Group and the firm’s Innovation Think Tank, was one of only 50 people profiled in the inaugural Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Trailblazer’s list who have helped make a difference in the fight against criminal cyber activity and towards adding much needed layers of data security in an increasingly digital world of commerce. Melodia was selected for his long history of defending clients involved in data breaches or allegations of data misuse. His Trailblazer profile also noted that decade ago, he oversaw some of the earliest class settlements for clients such as ChexSystems, which created templates for how those settlements could win judicial approval.
