PITTSBURGH, PA/WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 14, 2016) – Reed Smith LLP today announced the addition of Blair Flynn Petrillo as Counsel in the firm’s Corporate & Transactional Advisory Group (CTAG) and a member of the Capital Markets Team. Petrillo was most recently Deputy Chief Counsel, Office of the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). During her eight years at the SEC, she served as Counsel to two Commissioners. She will split her time between the firm’s Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. offices.

“Blair’s in-the-trenches experience in securities law further strengthens CTAG, making it an even more comprehensive resource for our clients,” said CTAG Practice Group Leader John Martini. “Her arrival, coupled with the additions last year of Danielle Carbone, Andrew Callahan and Robbie Scheininger in New York, gives our group significant depth not only in corporate governance and financing transactions but also in capital markets.”

While at the SEC, Petrillo provided guidance to the Chief Accountant on matters related to Commission rulemaking, auditor independence, oversight of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), and standard-setting by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). She has extensive experience advising on Corporation Finance, including rulemakings, enforcement actions and policy.

“Blair’s SEC experience fortifies our capital markets practice, improves our securities offerings, and offers clients recent hands-on knowledge of the SEC,” said George Stewart, Managing Partner of Reed Smith’s Pittsburgh office. “She is a great addition to our strong and growing team.”

Petrillo received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and her B.A. in International Studies/Political Science, cum laude, from the University of Richmond.
