With the opening of our Singapore office in October 2012, Reed Smith now has four offices in Asia including Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai, and more than 135 lawyers throughout Asia.
Our Singapore office is led by Office Managing Partner, Gautam Bhattacharyya, who is relocating from our London office. He has been joined by a number of new partners, and is soon-to-be joined by a number of Singapore-based lawyers. Our Singapore partners are highly regarded in their areas of practice by Legal 500, Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Chambers & Partners and Chambers & Partners Asia, to name a few.
As Singapore is a key Asia business centre and a significant financial hub, where a large number of our clients conduct business, this team of lawyers – along with our vast network of lawyers worldwide - can provide a seamless and personal service to address a full range of foreign law legal needs. Our team in Singapore has particular market strength in the trade & commodities, shipping, and dispute resolution sectors – with a focus on a broad range of work involving international arbitration. We have substantial experience in handling energy & natural resources, trade & commodities, commercial and shipping disputes. We provide advice on contracts that facilitate the needs of these businesses including the structure of sale, storage, transportation and financing arrangements, insurance issues, execution problems and related litigation and dispute resolution. Our office in Singapore will also enable us to assist our clients with arbitrations taking place at one of the world’s most important dispute resolution forums, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
