Reed Smith was one of the first international law firms to establish an office in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), opening up in Abu Dhabi in 1978. We also have a strong and growing presence in Dubai, opening our office in the Dubai International Financial Centre in September 2006.
We have more than 30 lawyers in the UAE, which is the hub of the firm’s practice in the Middle East, South Asia and Africa. Elsewhere in the region the firm has long standing relationships with correspondent firms of excellence in all the principal geographical areas. This gives us the true ability to be a ‘one-stop-shop’ for any client carrying out business in the wider region.
The UAE offices comprise experienced international lawyers and support staff, who speak Arabic as well as English and we are one of only a few firms that has a fluent Arabic speaker at Partner level.
At the epicentre of our growth in the region has been a focus on developing those skills and practice areas of most need to our clients. Our clients include multinational companies in all industry sectors, such as manufacturing, services, utilities, defence and others, other inward investors and trading houses, and other local interests within the region.
