Amanda joined Reed Smith in 2013 as Counsel in the Labor & Employment Group. Her practice focuses on defending employers employment and benefits litigation and agency proceedings, including single-plaintiff and complex class and collective actions under the FLSA, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA and state discrimination and wage-and-hour laws. Amanda also regularly counsels clients on all employment-related topics, including: responses to requests for disability accommodations and leaves of absence; classification of employees as exempt/non-exempt; preparation of employee handbooks, human resources policies, severance agreements, and other employment-related contracts; responding to OFCCP inquiries and handling OFCCP audits. Amanda also has extensive experience conducting workplace investigations, including charges ethics code and other employment policy violations. She also has provided employers with extensive in-person and web-based training solutions, including on discriminatory harassment and diversity practices.
In addition, Amanda has extensive appellate practice experience. She has prepared briefing in the U.S. and Pennsylvania Supreme Courts on wage-and-hour class certification issues, as well as appellate memorandum in litigations in the First, Second, Third, Fourth and Seventh Circuits on claims involving the ADA, FMLA, Title VII, FLSA, and each of their state law counterparts.
