Angela is head of Reed Smith's Chicago Trademark Practice.  Her practice focuses on global trademark registration and counseling.  Angela provides counsel to brand owners of all sizes on all matters of trademark and copyright law, including clearance, prosecution, licenses, assignments, enforcement activities and settlement agreements. In addition, Angela has overseen the establishment and maintenance of programs designed to secure and protect thousands of domestic and international trademarks. Angela consults regularly on global searching and filing strategies in multiple jurisdictions. Angela works with a team of experienced associates, paralegals and docket clerks in order to ensure efficient portfolio management. Angela was instrumental in the development of the Trademark Retrieval & Information Manager (TRIMSM) database which is used by the trademark prosecution practice to manage portfolios and generate reports for clients.

    • Oversaw the negotiation of contracts for corporate sponsorships and event marketing, and the contracts related to the company’s many relationships with advertising agencies and PR firms.
    • Helped ensure advertising was legal, substantiated and properly executed.
    • Acted as legal liaison appointed to the Sears E-commerce team (1997-99).
    • Handled issues, laws and regulations related to deceptive pricing, advertising claim substantiation, privacy, intellectual property, right of publicity, telemarketing, sweepstakes, and other promotional devices such as coupons and rebates.
