Reed Smith University

Reed Smith University is a firmwide initiative focusing on providing education and skill development. Its basic purpose is to make each person a better lawyer, a better manager, or a better staff member than he or she would otherwise be.

At the heart of this initiative is a partnership with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. This is the first partnership of its kind between a leading international law firm and a top-ranked business school. Reed Smith brings legal excellence to the table. Wharton brings its experience in executive education, counseling in professional development, and leadership training.

Reed Smith University swept two top awards recently in its first year of vying for prestigious Corporate University Best in Class (CUBIC) awards.  The firm won first place in the Best New Corporate University and the Most Innovative Corporate University competitions, both sponsored by the Human Resources IQ (HRIQ) division of the International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC).

The Reed Smith University comprises five schools all under the leadership of the Reed Smith University Chancellor, John Smith:

In all cases, the goals of Reed Smith University are to:

  • Build a common experience and standard across Reed Smith as it grows
  • Distinguish the firm in terms of commitment to professional development
  • Maintain the excellence of our human capital
  • Respond to known needs
