Courtney's practice is concentrated in the area of commercial litigation, with emphasis in insurance coverage litigation and negotiation on behalf of policyholders. Courtney has represented policyholders in directors and officers liability, professional liability, employment practices liability, first person property and product liability insurance coverage trials and arbitrations throughout the country. She regularly counsels corporations, non profits, educational institutions, boards of directors, independent directors and risk managers on insurance coverage and corporate indemnification. Courtney also assists clients in evaluating insurance coverage when obtaining or renewing coverage or negotiating transactions. Further, Courtney frequently litigates non insurance disputes, particularly breach of contract and product liability claims.

Courtney frequently speaks and writes on insurance coverage issues. She designs and administers the continuing legal education courses on insurance coverage topics.
