Gautam specialises in international commercial litigation and arbitration, especially in the fields of banking and financial services, energy and infrastructure, media and entertainment, and corporate and commercial law disputes. He also jointly heads the firm's cross-departmental India Group. He has been a partner in the firm since 2000. Gautam has extensive experience of acting in international arbitrations under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), UNCITRAL, the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Swiss Chambers of Commerce and other arbitration bodies. He has conducted litigations before the English courts, as well as cases involving the courts of other jurisdictions. He is named as a recommended litigation and arbitration practitioner in the independent legal directories Legal 500, Chambers & Partners, Chambers Global, Chambers Asia, Legal Experts, and the Asia-Pacific Legal 500. He was previously a visiting law lecturer at the University of Westminster.
