John represents banks and other financial institutions, focusing on banking, corporate and consumer credit law. He has drafted and negotiated purchases and sales of banks, bank affiliates and mortgage banks, and assisted banks and mortgage companies in establishing branches and representative offices, and the financing and purchase and sale of mortgage portfolios and other assets. He has directed and managed litigation and regulatory projects for mortgage companies, finance companies and credit card banks, and assisted in the development of electronic banking and other financial products. John has advised domestic and foreign financial institutions on compliance with federal and state regulatory and licensing issues, and drafted and negotiated credit card and merchant agreements for retailers, hotels and other nonbank clients.
For corporations and other business entities, John has handled stock sales, acquisitions, purchases and sales of assets in domestic and cross-border transactions. He has negotiated and closed vendor and other supplier agreements and commercial contracts, as well as sales, distribution and consulting agreements. Prior to law school, he worked as a legislative assistant and research assistant to Senator Edward Zorinsky from Nebraska.
