Kevin has extensive litigation experience with a concentration on issues relating to patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret law at the district court and appellate levels and in arbitration proceedings. Kevin also works in patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution and opinion work, as well as in technology and software licensing and intellectual property due diligence. His experience includes reviewing, drafting and litigating various types of contracts including technology and software license agreements, research collaboration agreements, asset and product purchase agreements, manufacturing and supplier agreements, master service agreements and statements of work, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, and settlement agreements.
Throughout the course of his practice, Kevin regularly prepares briefs for summary judgment, claim construction, and discovery-related matters, as well as various pre-trial and post-trial filings. He regularly assesses patents and products to develop positions on claim construction, infringement, invalidity, and inequitable conduct, and for due diligence and freedom-to-operate matters. Kevin has also participated in depositions and at trial and arbitration proceedings, and has successfully argued at hearings for claim construction, summary judgment, and various pre-trial and post-trial matters.
Kevin has represented clients in a wide range of industries, including medical devices, health care, genotyping, pharmaceuticals, mining, railway braking systems, printing and imaging devices, robotics, software, financial services, and communications and media.
In addition, Kevin has worked on numerous pro bono matters, including representing a prisoner in a Fourth Amendment excessive-use-of-force case, assisting with adoptions in Allegheny County Orphans' Court, and preparation of wills and other legal documents for indigent clients.
