Lou has been active in the area of environmental law since 1975. His practice includes litigation, environmental counseling and due diligence, including brownfields development. He has extensive litigation experience in permitting and compliance/enforcement proceedings and has represented clients in civil enforcement and criminal investigation proceedings in New York, Ohio, Louisiana, Georgia, Missouri, West Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. 

Lou also devotes a significant part of his practice to counseling clients on compliance, corrective action and permitting questions involving air, water, residual/hazardous waste, PCBs, underground storage tanks, wetlands, and Marcellus Shale matters. He regularly provides environmental due diligence assistance for clients, including Real Estate Investment Trusts (“REITs”) and lending institutions, and has conducted environmental due diligence for transactions involving the transfer of industrial and commercial property in all 50 states, the European Union, Canada, Mexico, Australia and the Pacific Rim.
