Ferd joined Reed Smith in winter 1997 and is a member of the firm's Corporate and Securities Practice Group.  Ferd is a corporate law generalist with concentration in acquisitions and financings in the energy and health care fields.

Ferd's practice consists of providing transactional services to all types of business organizations, including independent power producers, venture capitalists, industrial and manufacturing companies and hospitals.  The transactional services provided by Ferd involve acquisitions, mergers, financings, entity formations, capital formation activities, as well as tax and regulatory advice.

As a member of Reed Smith’s Energy & Natural Resources Group, Ferd has experience in the acquisition, development and financing of independent power projects involving natural gas, geothermal, solar, wind and conventional power production. 

Ferd has provided representation to venture capital firms which are engaged in diversified acquisitions throughout many industry segments.  He has assisted with the organization and financing of numerous corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies.  Ferd has also represented United States subsidiaries of multinational companies engaged in the acquisition of businesses in the United States.

Additionally, Ferd has substantial experience in the structuring, negotiating and documenting of a variety of complex business transactions for health care clients including:  mergers and acquisitions; securities offerings and other financings; the structuring and formation of entities; joint ventures and contractual relationships among providers and with third party payors, and, general corporate counseling.
