J. Andrew Moss
Andrew is a member of Reed Smith LLP’s Insurance Recovery Group in the Litigation Department. Andrew joined Reed Smith LLP when the firm combined with Sachnoff & Weaver, Ltd. in March 2007. Andrew concentrates his practice on the representation of companies and management as policyholders in insurance coverage disputes involving directors’ and officers’ liability (D&O), professional and errors and omissions liability (E&O), fiduciary liability, employment practices liability and fidelity bond insurance. In addition, Andrew negotiates, analyzes and evaluates D&O, E&O, fiduciary liability, employment practices liability and fidelity bond insurance placements and renewals.
Prior to entering private practice in 2003, Andrew served as a Staff Attorney to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and as a Law Clerk to Circuit Judge Ilana Diamond Rovner. Andrew is licensed to practice in Illinois and California.
Representative Matters
Represents policyholders in insurance coverage disputes, including negotiation, litigation and other forms of dispute resolution, and in the negotiation, analysis and evaluation of directors and officers’ liability, professional liability, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability, and commercial crime and fidelity insurance coverage.
Assisted with successfully negotiating multimillion-dollar contributions from D&O, E&O and fiduciary liability insurers to settlement on behalf of policyholders.
Successfully represented clients in recovery of multimillion-dollar employee dishonesty losses under financial institution bond.
Represents individuals detained at the U.S. Naval Station at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Represents persons seeking asylum or adjustment to immigration status before the immigration courts and the federal courts.
