From 2002 through 2007, David was the Chair of Reed Smith’s Labor and Employment Department, and provided leadership and guidance to its 100 professionals in both the United States and Europe.

David advises both unionized and union-free clients on a full range of labor and employee relations matters.  With respect to traditional labor matters, David represents clients in collective bargaining negotiations, labor disputes, grievances and arbitrations, proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, and state and federal court.  David also advises clients on the legal aspects of remaining union-free.  With respect to employee relations matters, David has extensive experience assisting clients in numerous industries with the development and maintenance of personnel policies and personnel infrastructures. In this regard, David often works on these issues with clients as business needs and culture change as a result of business transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions.

David represents local and national companies, as well as not-for-profit organizations.  He has negotiated collective bargaining agreements for clients in a variety of industries, including the hotel and restaurant industry, airline service, waste management, pharmaceutical, newspaper, retail, real estate holding, advertising and construction.

His experience on both sides of the negotiating table brings a unique perspective to labor negotiations, which has proved to be effective for his clients.
