Erik is a member of the Life Sciences Health Industry Group. His litigation practice focuses on the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, and the defense of complex product liability cases as national and local counsel in state and federal courts. He has experience handling multi-party matters and class actions at the pre-trial, trial and appellate levels, successfully briefing issues before the California Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal. He acted as second chair counsel in a complex wrongful death case and has secured several arbitration awards in his clients’ favor. Erik has worked extensively with experts in examining physical and documentary evidence, and preparing them for deposition and trial.

Erik also has a significant non-litigation practice, counseling life sciences and health industry clients on risk mitigation, corporate internal investigations, government investigations in the fraud and abuse area, corrective actions, clinical trial contracts, compliance with FDA regulations, and document retention policies.

Interests

Erik gave up a promising career as a blackjack dealer for the glitz and glamour of the legal profession. He has completed several international-distance triathlons, one-hundred-mile bike rides and open-water swims. For years, Erik has been unsuccessfully attempting to master black-and-white photography.
