Linda is a partner in Reed Smith’s Labor & Employment Group. She represents employers in various labor relations matters and specializes in cases involving wrongful discharge litigation, whistleblower claims, employment discrimination, wage and hour class actions and public accommodation class actions involving the Americans with Disabilities Act and Unruh Act. Linda also counsels employers on all aspects of employment law including sexual harassment, diversity, dispute resolution and arbitration, employee handbooks and personnel practices, employee discipline and discharge matters.
Linda has served as counsel of record and/or been responsible for managing hundreds of civil lawsuits, filed in different states. She has been responsible for litigation management and strategic partnering programs with several national companies.
Recognitions
Linda has been recognized as one of California’s top 100 women litigators by the Daily Journal (2009). She has been identified as a leader in the field of Labor and Employment Law by Chambers USA, America's Leading Lawyers for Business (2009). She has been recognized as one of the preeminent attorneys in her field in Los Angeles Magazine's Southern California's Super Lawyers and has also achieved an AV Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating.
Representative Matters
Dean v. Prudential Financial, Inc., et al. Received grant of summary judgment for our client, the defendant, in a case of race and disability discrimination, and wrongful termination.
Glass Ceiling Discrimination Litigation. Successful defense of an approximately 10,000-member putative glass-ceiling sex discrimination class action for an insurance company in which its female insurance agents claimed they were systematically denied promotional opportunities and pay increases based on their sex.
Rest and Meal Period Class Actions. Obtained dismissal of employees' claims for violations of rest and meal period requirements under California Labor Code Sections 226.7 and 558.
Incentive Plans. Successful defense of financial institution's incentive plan that resulted in forfeiture of employee contributions if employee terminated before a specified date.
California WARN Act Class Action. Dismissal of an approximately 19,000 member putative class action alleging violations of California's WARN Act and Business and Professions Code Section 17200.

- Linda is a highly regarded speaker and has lectured throughout the state and country on labor and employment topics. She regularly conducts in-house training and best practice seminars for employers, designs and implements employment audits and counsels employers on strategies to prevent employment problems in the workplace.
