Tom serves as Chief Knowledge Officer at Reed Smith LLP.  In Tom’s role as CKO, he helps assess technology tools that increase efficiency, streamline processes and improve productivity for the firm's lawyers and its clients.  Previously, Tom was the CKO at Sheppard Mullin.  Before joining Sheppard Mullin, he held a senior-level position at Foley and Lardner.  Prior to that, he consulted for years with law firms and corporate legal departments. 

Tom is a recognized leader in the industry: he was named 2005 Legal IT Innovator of the Year by the Legal IT Forum, and was featured on the cover of the Nov/Dec 2005 issue of Law Firm Inc. magazine; and he was a member of the management team that won the CIO 100 Award in 2002 from CIO Magazine.  Tom serves on the advisory boards of Law Technology News, Law.com, the Cal State Fullerton Knowledge Management Advisory Board and Lexis Nexis.  Tom also serves as the Regional Vice President of the International Legal Technology Association.

He is a nationally renowned speaker and author, with more than 100 conferences and articles to his credit.  Tom is the Regional Vice President of the International Legal Technology Association.  Tom received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California, where he was in the top 10 of his class.
