Depth

Reed Smith knows insurance and your business.  Reed Smith Insurance Recovery Group members have represented policyholders across the broadest spectrum of industries, insurance policies and settings.  As part of an international law firm Reed Smith Insurance Recovery Group members and their clients can draw on the collective experience of Reed Smith attorneys across the globe knowledgeable in every area of business law and litigation.

Breadth

With Insurance Recovery Group attorneys resident in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Houston, London, Paris and Singapore, we have you covered coast-to-coast and internationally.  In fact, Reed Smith has more dedicated Insurance Recovery professionals on the ground and ready to act on your behalf in the world's major business centers than any other international firm.  Alongside their U.S. counterparts, our European Insurance Recovery Group members are situated to handle international arbitrations in the UK, EU, Bermuda and elsewhere.  Selecting the Reed Smith Insurance Recovery Group brings the advantage of playing in our home court, which gives you the edge in arbitrations and litigation.

Judgment

Sue?  Negotiate?  Walk away?  When it comes to insurance claims, one size does not fit all.  If a lawsuit against an insurer is the right move, Reed Smith's Insurance Recovery Group has the depth, breadth and experience to take on any coverage battle.  But a lawsuit often is not necessary.  Sometimes it is better to negotiate.  Reed Smith Insurance Recovery Group members have relationships of mutual respect with insurers and insurer counsel that help get good results.  And sometimes … sometimes … (although rarely because we are really good at finding coverage) the claim is just not worth pursuing.  Reed Smith's Insurance Recovery Group proves its value when it provides good advice and delivers sound judgment.

Moreover, good judgment goes beyond evaluating and pursuing claims.  We act as trusted advisors and counselors to our clients, advising on insurance issues in mergers, acquisitions and commercial contracts, terms and placement of standard and specialty policies, overall coordination of insurance programs and even managing insurer-insured relationships under complex agreements.

Experience

Collectively, the members of the Reed Smith Insurance Recovery Group have decades of experience successfully representing policyholders, and are recognized leaders in their fields.  We have tried landmark cases and recovered billions of dollars over the last five years alone.

Our clients benefit from this extraordinary experience in many ways:

  • State of the art knowledge management means wheels won't be reinvented
