Imminent changes to SDA bring higher maternity costs and greater risks of claims

Maternity rights are to be extended and employers will face greater risks of harassment claims following changes to be made under regulations amending the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (SDA). Most of the changes made by the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (Amendment) Regulations 2008 will come into effect on 6 April 2008, so employers must act quickly to ensure they comply.
