Sakil is a Partner in the firm’s EME Corporate Group and his practice focuses on handling corporate and commercial matters. He specialises in mergers & acquisitions (public and private), private equity, company law and large commercial transactions, including joint ventures, strategic alliances, franchising, technology, outsourcing and IT/ecommerce.
Sakil acts for a broad range of clients across a number of industry sectors who value his technical expertise and commercial approach to issues, including major listed corporations, growth companies and start ups. He has a wealth of expertise in doing cross border transactions involving the USA, India, the Middle East, Turkey and emerging European countries.
Sakil has gained invaluable commercial exposure working in-house, having spent time on secondment with the legal departments of international corporations, Sara Lee and Akzo Nobel. He has built up good expertise in working for manufacturing companies and assisting with their general commercial needs, including advising on supply, manufacture, distribution and agency agreements; standard terms and conditions; competition law; consumer law; advertising, marketing and sales promotions; IT/ecommerce; data protection and privacy; R&D and collaborations; and Intellectual Property – design, development, protection and licensing. Sakil provides general commercial support to a number of clients and their in-house departments, including DB Apparel (Wonderbra, Shock Absorber, Playtex and other brands), Sara Lee (Douwe Egberts, Kiwi, Brylcreem, Ambi Pur and other brands) and AGA/Rangemaster.
Sakil also lead’s the firm’s UK Diversity Committee.
