Practice Areas

The pensions team has combined pensions experience spanning a significant number of years, with hands on experience of all areas of pensions law and practice. The pensions department has been giving advice since the 1930s.

We act for trustees, employers, industry bodies and regulators, individuals and other professionals.

We are fortunate to have a large number of loyal clients for whom we act on an on-going basis, but always aim to provide the same dedicated service to anyone who comes to us for legal help.

We provide advice on and solutions to the full range of pensions problems arising from the running, restructuring and winding-up of pension arrangements of all shapes and sizes.

We are also very used to dealing with pensions disputes between all types of organisations and people. We can provide practical advice on the best approach to internal disputes, Pensions Ombudsman complaints and Court actions. However we never lose sight of the benefits of negotiating a favourable early settlement.

We have particular expertise in the area of pension scheme investment, having helped shape the law as it now applies to investment management and custody.

The pensions department also operates two professional independent trustees, Beaufort Trust Corporation Limited and Independent Pension Trustee Limited. This gives us an invaluable insight into the practicalities facing pension schemes in this economic climate, not least in the difficult area of pension scheme funding.

We are an experienced, pragmatic and approachable team. Our emphasis is on ensuring that we communicate our knowledge effectively to our clients.
