(October 3, 2013) – Reed Smith LLP today announced that Global Managing Partner Gregory B. Jordan is leaving the firm to join The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: PNC). Alexander “Sandy” Thomas, formerly Global Chair Litigation at Reed Smith, will succeed Mr. Jordan as the firm’s Global Managing Partner.

Mr. Jordan will become Executive Vice President General Counsel and Head of Regulatory and Government Affairs at PNC, and will also have responsibility for the PNC Foundation and the Corporate Ethics Office. He will join the Executive Committee, and report directly to PNC CEO William Demchak.

“It has been a great honor to lead Reed Smith and work with so many wonderful people,” said Mr. Jordan. “It will be difficult to leave, but I am excited about this new opportunity to help lead a great company and client like PNC. I am proud of the firm we have built, and I know the firm's strong core values and great talent will continue to make it successful. There is an outstanding and experienced management team in place to lead Reed Smith into the future.”

Reed Smith has been transformed under Mr. Jordan's leadership into a leading global law firm, with 1800 lawyers in 25 offices. The firm represents many of the world's most prominent companies in a broad range of industries including healthcare and life sciences, financial services, energy, real estate, media and entertainment. The firm has consistently been ranked by the BTI Consulting Group among the top firms for client service and its lawyers are regularly ranked as top leaders in their fields across its many worldwide offices and varied practice areas.
