Hosted by Legal Week in association with The City of London Law Society, the annual awards showcase the best legal work from across the country, and are attended by 1,000 lawyers representing the cream of the UK's legal community.
In the private equity category, the firm is shortlisted for its role advising Graphite Capital, a leading UK mid-market private equity investor, on the sale of Micheldever Tyre Services to Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd (SRI) for £215 million. The deal closed in February this year.
In M&A, Reed Smith is shortlisted for its role acting for Gemfields plc, the AIM listed coloured gemstone miner and distributor and owner of the Faberge jewellery brand, on its attempted defence of an unsolicited takeover by its major shareholder, Pallinghurst Resources Limited (Pallinghurst).
Reed Smith is named a finalist in the technology category on account of the creation of its firmwide Pricing Tool. The firm’s Client Value Team (CVT) worked alongside Practice Innovation (PI) to create a firmwide Pricing Tool which would enable lawyers to create budgets at a matter’s inception and enable clients to track legal spend through a matter.
The winners will be announced at an awards dinner held in London on 30 November.
