Prior to joining Reed Smith, Colin spent 6 years at Goodwin Procter where he developed their fund finance practice in London. Colin’s practice encompasses a wide range of fund level finance transactions (including equity bridging, Net Asset Value (NAV) facilities, subscription line financing, investment warehousing, portfolio and asset acquisition facilities, GP facilities and carry/co-investment facilities), where he advises private equity houses, asset managers and financial institutions. Colin has been recognised as a Next Generation Partner in Fund Finance by Legal 500, 2022.
Colin also specialises in real estate finance, working regularly with real estate funds. He has particular experience acting as lender counsel for UK focussed real estate debt funds, on both investment and development transactions across a wide range of real estate assets. Colin was “recommended” by Legal 500 for real estate finance.
Before joining Goodwin Procter, Colin spent 8 years at SJ Berwin, focussing primarily on fund finance.
Colin has also undertaken pro bono projects for a number of small theatre companies.
Colin studied Jurisprudence at Balliol College, University of Oxford, Law and Economics at the University of Utrecht, gaining an LLM, and completed his LPC at BPP Law School, gaining a distinction in 2005.
