Maryanne’s clients find that she anticipates their needs and is an effective collaborator in reducing and controlling risk. Maryanne has extensive experience across all types of complex litigation and drives resolutions for her clients by quickly assessing situations and leveraging early advantages. She has first-chair trial experience and has litigated extensively in numerous state and federal courts, including multi-district litigation.
Maryanne effectively reduces risk arising from product liability matters related to medical device and pharmaceuticals, manufactured mechanical products, as well as toxic torts. She has been National Coordinating Counsel for a Fortune 100 company’s asbestos litigation, which averaged more than 1700 individual cases litigated nationwide. In that role, she crafted the overall trial and defense strategy, identified key experts, developed advanced data metrics to identify key trends in the litigation, and established cost-effective defense management processes.
She is at the forefront of addressing legal issues with disruptive technology. Maryanne co-leads the firm's Internet of Things Task Force, which provides clients with comprehensive support to address the impact of these disruptive technologies, and she has spoken and written extensively on the topic. She is also a key member of the firm's Artificial Intelligence Task Force, in particular digital health.
Maryanne is the Chicago Market Chair of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, serves as a Client Inclusion Leader for one of the firm’s clients, and a member of the firm’s Asian and Pacific American Business Inclusion Group and Women’s Initiative. She also serves as one of Reed Smith’s trial skills instructors, honing the courtroom abilities of the firm’s litigation associates.
