Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) invite you to a live legal training: An Introduction to Representing Unaccompanied Children in Immigration Matters.

Speakers: Julia A. López

Event Type: Webinar, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Start Date/Time:
25 September 2020, 12:00 PM EDT
End Date/Time:
25 September 2020, 2:00 PM EDT

As part of Reed Smith’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are proud to support KIND with their mission to help children and young people access pro bono legal representation because no child should face immigration court alone. KIND pro bono attorneys work directly with children to help them build their cases, gain valuable courtroom experience, and develop expertise in a unique area of law. No immigration experience is necessary. Each pro bono attorney is assigned a KIND attorney for the duration of their case who provides guidance on case strategy, feedback on drafts, mock adjudications, samples and checklists.

This panel will include a New Jersey specific portion and refer other attorneys to their local KIND representative. In addition to New Jersey, KIND has offices in Seattle, San Francisco/Fresno, Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, Washington DC/Virginia, Baltimore, New York, and Boston. KIND also has a border work team in El Paso/Mexico and a family separation team that works all over the country.

This event, sponsored by Reed Smith and co-sponsored by the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey, is free and all are invited. This program is approved for newly-admitted and experienced attorneys.
