Undoubtedly, the pandemic has disrupted opportunities for personal and professional volunteerism. Our guest speakers from Dress for Success, Feeding America, and the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund will explain how we can overcome this and spur positive change in our organizations.
We are proud to offer this event in collaboration with our Racial Equity Action Plan, Women’s Initiative Network, and pro bono teams.
Dress for Success:
Dress for Success is a global nonprofit that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing them with a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help them thrive in work and life.
Nearly 13 million women dropped out of the workforce in 2020, and 2 million more women are expected to leave this year, a level unseen since 1988.
Feeding America:
Feeding America works to get nourishing food – from farmers, manufacturers, and retailers – to people in need. It also seeks to help the people it serves build a path to a brighter, food-secure future. Feeding America helps food-insecure populations with the help of volunteers, advocacy work, and donations.
As states end their pandemic-related states of emergency, the food assistance benefits for families facing hunger could also end.
NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund:
The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF) is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans.
With 2022 primaries coming up, volunteer to be a poll worker or a nonpartisan poll monitor for election fairness.
