(October 16, 2012) – Reed Smith LLP, a leading international law firm, announced today that Gregory B. Jordan, 53, has been elected to a fifth 3-year term as Global Managing Partner, through 2015. Jordan’s unopposed election will give him the longest tenure as managing partner of any lawyer in the firm’s 136-year history.

“I deeply appreciate my partners’ confidence in me. It’s an honor for me to lead Reed Smith, and I look forward to helping the firm continue to meet clients’ needs for quality legal services worldwide,” said Jordan.

When Jordan took the helm in 2001, Reed Smith had slightly more than 500 lawyers in nine offices in the Mid-Atlantic region. It is now one of the largest firms in the world, with more than 1,700 lawyers in 23 offices around the globe. Jordan’s re-election comes on the heels of his October 2012 selection as one of America’s Ten Most Innovative Managing Partners by Law360.

Under Jordan's leadership, the firm has regularly been recognized among the best in the world, winning kudos for its commitment to quality service and value. In the United States, for the past eight years running, Reed Smith has scored within the top 30 firms for the coveted BTI Client Service A-Team ranking based on survey feedback from in-house counsel at large, multinational corporations. The firm landed in the top 5 percent of the more than 300 firms rated for overall quality and service and has been named in the top three for delivering real value. In London, the Legal Week survey of client satisfaction of FTSE companies reported that Reed Smith was ranked 3rd of 78 major firms.

A 1981 graduate of Bethany College and a 1984 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Jordan speaks frequently to professional audiences on law firm leadership, management and growth issues. He was a founding board member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD); serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bethany College; as a director on the Allegheny Conference on Community Development; and as a board member of Highmark, Inc., and the Global Business Coalition for Education.
