“Our Energy & Commodities Conference is developed with the participation of the industry, specifically to address the changing landscape and the opportunities and challenges ahead,” said Houston-based partner Craig Enochs, who serves as co-vice chair of Reed Smith’s global Energy & Natural Resources Industry Group and co-chair of the annual conference.
Industry guest panelists at the 2018 event will include legal representatives from the Bank of America, Chevron, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), McDermott International, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, RBN Energy, and Shell.
FERC Commissioner Neil Chatterjee, who served as FERC Chairman from August-December 2017, will deliver the Keynote Speech at the 2018 event. Over his career, Commissioner Chatterjee has played an integral role in the passage of major energy, highway, and agriculture legislation. Prior to joining the Commission, Chatterjee was an energy policy advisor to the U.S. Senate Majority Leader and a Principal in Government Relations for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
Bolstering the commissioner’s keynote, a separate panel discussion on regulatory challenges in energy projects and infrastructure will be led by three Washington, D.C.-based partners: former FERC Commissioner Colette D. Honorable, her FERC team co-leader, Regina Y. Speed-Bost, and U.S. Peter Y. Malyshev, who will present on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
“Our Energy & Commodities conference is uniquely geared to what is on our clients’ minds,” said Houston partner and conference co-chair Paul Turner. “By bringing together the experience of our industry guest speakers with the knowledge of key partners across our global platform, we provide a concise, comprehensive, single-day educational program that reflects their concerns and goals in an ever-changing world.”
