Casey Ryan, Reed Smith's Global Head of Legal Personnel, a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, and a prominent partner in its Labor & Employment practice, and Tamara Box, the firm's Managing Partner in Europe & the Middle East, a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and a leading partner in its Structured Finance team, are among the women recognized this year.
"Tamara and Casey are two of Reed Smith's top leaders championing the advancement of women in our firm and throughout the legal profession," said Sandy Thomas, Reed Smith's Global Managing Partner. "Both have made significant contributions to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace and to develop resources and programming that furthers the development of a gender-equal environment. We are delighted that INvolve and Yahoo Finance recognize how important their contributions have been and continue to be for our firm, our lawyers, our clients and our communities. It is well-deserved achievement."
INvolve is a worldwide membership organization championing diversity and inclusion in business. According to its founder & CEO Suki Sandhu, OBE, "This recognition has one aim – to create gender parity in workplaces across the globe. The role models we’re recognizing aren't just those who have achieved success themselves – they're those who are committed to lifting others with them as they climb, and ultimately fuelling the female talent pipeline."
This is the third year INvolve has published a HERoes list of women who have been influential in advancing gender equality in business, and Tamara Box has been named to the list every year. A founding member of the 30% Club, she has worked for several years on initiatives to drive the change toward greater representation of women on corporate boards.
A graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and the London School of Economics and Political Science, Box has more than 25 years of experience advising clients in complex financings. Within Reed Smith, she is active in mentoring, sponsoring, and promoting the advancement of female colleagues throughout the firm’s offices in Europe and the Middle East.
"I am very honored to once again be recognized by INvolve for my efforts in support of women’s empowerment," said Box. "Having two Reed Smith female executives on this list speaks volumes about the firm and its commitment to gender equality."
In addition to having responsibility for the recruitment, hiring, and professional development of legal talent in Reed Smith's offices around the world, Ryan is lead counsel for high profile clients in federal and state courts throughout the United States, and routinely represents them in employment disputes before agencies at all levels. A graduate of Notre Dame Law School, Casey also has a significant arbitration and trial practice.
"I am exceptionally proud of the work Reed Smith is doing to ensure that women advance in their careers, and are retained, promoted and compensated equitably," said Ryan. "The recognition by INvolve helps call attention to this important outcome and the progress our firm has already made toward achieving it."
