LONDON - Reed Smith has co-sponsored the inaugural Young Mumbai Center for International Arbitration (YMCIA) essay writing competition.

The competition is open to any person who, as of the deadline for submission, is either a law student or a law practitioner with up to two years’ PQE.

Essays must cover either “Use of technology in arbitration – what will the future of arbitration look like?” or “The emergence of emergency arbitration in international arbitration.”

All entries must be submitted via email to by 11.59 p.m. (IST), October 15, 2021. Gautam Bhattacharyya will take on the role of essay judge, alongside other members of the arbitral community. 

In April 2021, Simon Greer was appointed to the Young MCIA Steering Committee for the April 2021 - March 2023 term.
