As deputy to Reed Smith’s global chair of DEI, Crespo, whose pronouns are they/them, aids the firm’s efforts to advance DEI in the legal community. They are responsible for leading the firm’s DEI strategic planning process, serving as content producer for the firm’s annual DEI Summit, and overseeing the development and facilitation of several firmwide programs, including the DEI Leadership Development Program and Reed Smith’s annual DEI continuing legal education series for clients.
Additionally, Crespo, along with DEI global chair John Iino, co-hosts Inclusivity Included, the firm’s highly-acclaimed podcast focusing on DEI issues through the lens of personal stories.
Crespo joined Reed Smith in 2020 after serving as the City of Philadelphia Law Department’s first-ever director of professional development, diversity and inclusion, where they developed and implemented large-scale diversity programming. Crespo has an extensive background developing and facilitating both subject matter and competency-based diversity and inclusion trainings for a wide range of internal and external audiences - including clients, in house counsel, corporate executives, law students, government officials, judges, local-area nonprofits and law firm personnel.
Prior to entering the DEI field, Crespo worked as a civil litigator in various nonprofits representing marginalized communities. They have advocated on behalf of migrant farmworkers and LGBT clients, representing them in civil rights, human trafficking and employment law matters.
This is the latest in a series of acknowledgements Crespo has received this year. In May, they were named to City & State Pennsylvania's Pride Power 100 List, and earlier this year, Crespo received another honor from Metro Philadelphia, which named them to its Latino Power Players list.
