Sheila joined Reed Smith in 2012 and is a member of the Business & Finance Staff Attorney Group. Her role consists of providing counsel to clients regarding commercial and research and development contracts, as well as negotiating and reviewing such contracts. Sheila has experience with non-disclosure agreements, clinical trial agreements, consulting agreements, sponsored research agreements, and various services agreements. In her role, Sheila works closely with her clients to translate their business needs into agreements that support and meet their needs and expectations.
In addition to her work with the Business & Finance Staff Attorney Group, Sheila has more than a decade of experience litigating matters for clients in the financial, health services and insurance industries. Sheila has handled contested litigation matters in state and federal court in jurisdictions nationwide, from initial intake through favorable resolution. Representative tasks include file management, preparation of pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery, negotiation of settlements, and trial preparation.
Prior to joining Reed Smith, Sheila worked at a large Pittsburgh law firm where she assisted a global financial institution in developing a company-wide records retention policy and schedule. This project involved interviewing department and business unit managers, assessing department work flow, and identifying documents critical to business operations. Sheila has also supported commercial, antitrust, insurance, intellectual property, and Federal and state regulatory matters.
