Pro Bono

In 2014, Kyle was the firm’s first Pittsburgh attorney to guide a transgender client through the legal name change process as part of the pro bono Name Change Project, which assists transgender individuals in conforming their legal identities with their lived experiences. As Chair of the Name Change Project in Pittsburgh, Kyle coordinates over 25 volunteer attorneys at the firm who counsel transgender clients in obtaining name changes in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. He also leads outreach regarding the Project to the local transgender community, promotes the pro bono initiative to attorneys throughout Pittsburgh, and provides name change training to the area’s lawyers, law students, and legal staff.
