Justine is a commercial lawyer whose practice focuses on complex transactions and disputes in the energy and commodities sector.
Justine has acted for clients in disputes in the English High Court and on cross-border litigation and arbitrations, (including under SIAC, ICC and FOSFA Rules) and has advised on a number of international joint venture disputes in energy and natural resources projects in Southeast Asia (including coal power plants and geothermal projects). Justine regularly acts in commodities trading and charterparty disputes, and contract of carriage claims.
In her non-contentious work, Justine assists clients in the energy and natural resources industries in managing their operational and compliance risk, with a particular focus on licensing and regulatory approvals in Singapore, and on conduct of business and governance issues. Justine also has extensive experience in drafting trade agreements (sale and purchase, off-take, prepayment), transportation agreements (charterparties, COAs), tolling agreements, port services agreements and storage agreements (bonded warehousing), all with cross-border elements. Justine has also worked extensively on the review and development of LNG master sale and purchase agreements, and advised on the purchase of LNG trading portfolios, for market leading LNG trading multinationals.
Justine has the experience of several in-house secondments at major commodity trading and mining corporations, and has benefited from a first-hand understanding of the energy sourcing and trading industries. This has given her an understanding of the need for advice that is commercial, practical and tailored towards business-oriented solutions.
