Patrick’s practice focusses on international disputes resolution, spanning international arbitration, investment treaty arbitration arising out of bilateral investment treaties and the Energy Charter Treaty, commercial litigation both in England and overseas jurisdictions, and alternative dispute resolution.
Patrick has worked on high-value ad hoc arbitration under the UNCITRAL Rules, as well as arbitrations under the rules of major international arbitration institutions, including the LCIA, ICC and ICSID, in the oil and gas, mining, energy, hospitality and renewables sectors. He also has experience of ICSID annulment applications and challenges to awards under the Arbitration Act 1996.
Patrick also has considerable experience in contentious contract disputes, company law issues (including shareholder disputes, directors’ duties and derivative actions), contentious professional indemnity/insurance issues as well as other commercial disputes. He also specializes in the international financial services sector representing financial institutions in disputes (including fraud claims) involving loans, collective investment funds, trusts and other investment structures.
Patrick’s professional indemnity practice includes resolving disputes concerning negligence claims brought against barristers, solicitors, trustees, directors, fund administrators and other professionals and service providers.
