Steven qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1995 and in England and Wales in 1993, and was made a partner in 2000. He has experience in all aspects of intellectual property in the greater China region, in contentious and non-contentious matters, from both a regulatory and enforcement perspective. Steven represents clients in litigation matters concerning trademark, patent, design and copyright infringement, passing-off (unfair competition), trade secret/confidentiality disputes and domain name/cybersquatting disputes. Steven represents clients in registering and managing their portfolios of trademarks, patents, designs and domain names, counselling on copyright protection, and in the licensing and distribution of IP rights and properties. Steven has been involved in several government consultations and lobbies for changes in the law, and his practice includes advising on the IP aspects of media, entertainment and information technology matters. Steven has represented pharmaceutical companies in medical product regulatory name registration in Hong Kong, and contentious issues between pharmaceutical companies with product regulatory name registrations conflicting against identical trademark registrations.
