Ethan Buttner is an associate in the firm’s Financial Industry Group. Ethan specializes in Financial Services Litigation, where he focuses on representing major financial institutions, including mortgage lenders and loan servicers in state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York.
Prior to joining Reed Smith, Ethan was an associate at Callahan & Fusco, where he was responsible for a large litigation portfolio, as well as served as law clerk to the Honorable Thomas J. Walsh, J.S.C., Superior Court of New Jersey, County of Union, Civil Division, for the 2014-2015 court term. In his clerkship, he was responsible for the management of Judge Walsh’s extensive civil motion calendar.
Ethan has extensive experience litigating complex cases, including matter concerning lender liability, consumer fraud, and the violation of state and federal statutes, including the Truth in Lending Act, the Consumer Fraud Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and the Copyright Act. Ethan also has experience in immediate post-loss intervention and investigations, and advising clients as to their compliance with OSHA regulations.
Ethan has used the above skills to successfully represent clients at trial, mediations, arbitrations, and appeals in state and federal courts.
While in law school, Ethan was a Senator in the Student Bar Association.
